Day Trip in Kusatsu Town
Experience the best of Kusatsu with perfect one-day itinerary. Recommend your trip begin by wandering the charming old-world streets of the hot spring town, visit the historic Kōsenji Temple to feel its peaceful atmosphere. Don't miss the iconic Yubatake hot water field, where you can see steaming water flowing through wooden channels and even enjoy a free foot bath. Be sure to catch the lively Yumomi performance, a unique traditional show where performers cool the hot spring water in rhythm.
Mt.Azumaya Ridge Walk
The self-guided round trip from the Palcall Tsumagoi Gondola summit to Mt. Azumaya is a popular "minimal effort" route to one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Using the gondola significantly shortens the ascent compared to traditional trailhead routes.
Starting Point: Palcall Tsumagoi Gondola (Sky Walk Gondola) summit station (altitude ~2,100m).
Distance: Approximately 6.8 km to 7 km round trip.
Elevation Gain: ~400–500 meters.
Estimated Time: 3 to 4 hours total.
Difficulty: Generally considered easy to moderate and suitable for beginners.
